Anthony Pryce

‘What Anthony doesn’t know about pheasants can be written on the side of a cartridge with a crayon….’

Anthony has been integrally involved with game rearing and sporting estates for over 25 years. He is very well thought of in the industry due to his commitment and honest approach to producing top quality stock for sporting estates as well as understanding how to create, manage and maintain first class driven shoots.

From the age of 15 Anthony has been involved with game. He started off as an underkeeper, working his way up to head keeper at Kempton in South Shropshire. He then oversaw and continued to grow the UK’s largest Game Farm as well as developing and maintaining several renowned sporting estates in Mid Wales and The West Country.

He decided to go it alone in 2015 and founded Cambrian Birds & Shoots. As Managing Director he continues to use his knowledge and passion to steer the company each and every day.

During the last two and a half decades Anthony has been there and done it. He is not afraid to get stuck in, has seen it all and knows first-hand how successful rearing should be done, or perhaps more importantly, how not to do it. It is because of this that he is perfectly placed to rear strong birds for our customers, as well as provide impartial, honest and effective advice to all who require it.

Ed Davies

A farmer’s son born and raised in Shropshire, Ed has had a passion for shooting and field sports from a young age. He spent three years studying Rural Land Management at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester and subsequently took a position working in the shooting industry based in Mid Wales. Initially working in the shoot office Ed’s expertise developed as he gained experience in all parts of the business from game rearing through to hosting shoot days in Mid Wales as well as the West Country.

Ed became a director of Cambrian Birds in 2017 and has an involvement with all parts of the business. During the winter he can be found hosting shoot days at Old Long Mountain whilst in the summer he oversees shoot sales, stock sales & logistics as well as aspects of the hatchery and game farm.

His involvement and passion for all aspects of the industry to date, coupled with his desire to develop Cambrian Birds will no doubt enable him to ably assist Anthony into the future.

Will Horner

Will Horner

Originally from Dorset Will has always held a passion for fieldsports, in particular shooting and fly fishing. From a young age he could be found trying to tempt wily brown trout on West Country rivers and walking the hedgerows in search of quarry. He always held the dream of having his own Pheasant shoot so, in 2010 whilst still at school, he visited local farmers and proposed his ideas. With the backing of several farmers his first shoot was born. It continues to this day and has grown considerably from its small beginnings, even being featured in The Shooting Times magazine. Will still enjoys managing the shoot and travelling down to Dorset in the season to run the shoot days.

Will spent three years studying Rural Land Management at the Royal Agricultural University and whilst there he also captained the men’s shooting team to victories all over the country. He also, rather unsurprisingly, based his Dissertation on English Partridges. Upon graduating Will worked as a Land Agent but his unending passion for fieldsports meant that in 2017, he joined Cambrian Birds.

In the summer Will can be found managing the company’s state of the art, and ever expanding, hatchery and has a real passion for the intricacies of gamebird incubation. Once the hatchery closes its doors he can be found rearing pheasants, partridges and ducks. This leads nicely into the shooting season where Will can be found hosting shoot days on any of the company’s shoots.

Will’s passion for fieldsports, combined with his desire to develop and grow within the industry, enables him to be well equipped to help Cambrian Birds and Shoots expand well into the future.
