Situated a short distance from the Welsh border town of Welshpool, Old Long Mountain is a well-kept secret. With only a handful of let days each season, the opportunity to shoot there is something to be savoured. Part of Powis Castle Estate, The Old Long Mountain is a quintessential Pheasant Shoot.

Welsh Harp Hollow, Buttington, Welshpool, SY21 8HB

Pheasants are presented from cover crops, and woodland blocks across the estate.

Many people will have heard tales of Old Long Mountain, and some of the signature drives including Trinity Wells, The Beaches and Paradise, however few will have experienced them first hand. The quality of shooting across the estate is without a doubt second to none, and a day at Old Long Mountain must be on every keen shots ‘to do’ list.

The first day at Old Long Mountain is in early November and is usually taken by the Original Syndicate who have been shooting there for over 40 years. A remarkable and traditional syndicate who have seen one generation turn into the next as the years have passed by.

The day begins in The Shoot Room at Welsh Harp Hollow at around 9.15am. After coffee and a catch up we boot up, draw pegs and leave for the first drive at around 10.00am. We generally have soup and sausages in the field and shoot through – returning to The Shoot Room afterwards for lunch prepared by our own on site chef.

We welcome teams from all over the country and are happy to advise on or arrange local accommodation as required. We can also help organise loaders, instructors, cartridges and transport – Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss your requirements.

We would love for you and your team to join us for a day so if you have any questions or would like to book a day please contact us and we will do our very best to assist.
